Dev Log 4 - Learning Reflection: how will this prepare me for next semester?

When regarding preparations for next semester, it's a complex situation. Taking into account how this semester has gone, I would like to push my team to meet on a more consistent basis in the coming semester. Furthermore, I would like to set up a consistent day for our team meet, an idea that I haven't tried in any of my prior teams during my time at Sheridan.

Beyond that, getting everyone consistently updating our various documentation and team tools (Jira, Scrum) would go a long way in maintaining our progression towards getting the game finished. I also want to do a pass through our team's GDD, with the team, and cut anything that is superfluous or will muddy our game concept.

Your constant focus on documentation and use of Project Management tools is inspirational. I find I'm faltering a bit but through your insight it reminds me to continue to press on. Big thank you to you! Cheers!

HI Ethan, speaking from experiernce having a consistant day every week to work on thing does help with project like these alot. I hope it beneifts your team to good luck on your project!

It definitely sounds like you and your team are super prepared, that extra pass over the team's GDD at this stage of the project is something that I don't think most teams are doing but going that extra mile will help boost productivity and make the end goal a bit clearer.

Yea man I hear you

Hiya Ethan,

I hear you loud and clear. Final season has got us all under crunch and I get the struggle. I hope next semester we can meet that goal of a weekly team meeting!

Hey Ethan,

Thats a good idea to have a consistent day during next semester where the team meets as it would add structure which could help with getting stuff done quicker or at least have everyone communicate properly.

Hi Ethan,

That's great to acknowledge the lack of consistency in team meetings. It would also be interesting to hear how you are planning to go about that, maybe having small goals that lead to some type of reward?

Hi Ethan!

Frequent team meetings are great! I actually prefer to meet in person as I feel there are fewer distractions and you're more focused on the work compared to online meetings. Lastly, that's a good idea to go through the GDD once more. I'll have to bring that up with my team when I get a chance!

Hi Ethan,

Getting your team to meet up consistently would help tremendously in my opinion.  From my experience it helps keep each other accountable and sets a concrete deadline. And cleaning up your GDD and other docs would start off the next semester must easier, I think its a great idea!
